Having started his career as a self employed cabinetmaker and furniture finisher, Promissi's founder James Fox moved into snagging and finishing attic conversions for an award-winning Dublin based attic conversion and interiors company. Before long he became the go-to-guy to fix any problems that existed at the finalisation phase. He did this in an efficient and timely manner and thereby giving the company the assurance they needed as they expanded. His expertise was reserved for critical and difficult to please clients.
In bringing projects to completion James developed a system which entailed a full inspection of all parts of the house affected during construction and liaised closely with the homeowner before gathering the supplies necessary to carry the job over the line. As with any construction project and finish thereof, there is an entire realm in which the quality of a job is highly subjective. Some clients won't see obvious defects and some clients see defects where there are none.
As there is no objectively quantifiable standard to work to James was developing a high minimum standard for interior construction finishing. Having successfully satisfied hundreds of attic conversion clients while superintending hundreds more he discovered an overarching commonality between the wants and needs of clients. On the far ends of the spectrum were clients seeking to find fault in anything and clients whom might never find fault. Highly disagreeable and highly agreeable. The remainder, which makes up the vast majority, simply wanted a job well done. It should work, it should look good, it should feel good. Once these parameters were met, the clients were happy. Understanding the requirements of the project was the key. As long as he was giving the project the attention it needed, neither the contractor nor the client had anything to complain about. In this way he eventually became the de facto interior finish and completion inspector, placing customer and project needs to the fore, never seeking permission from the main contractor to go the extra miles needed to be certain that each project was completed to an acceptable standard and thereby pleasing the entire spectrum of clients.
It is on these values that Promissi was conceived. With this confidence and in order to facilitate optimal pricing and achieve a high price/quality score Promissi operates our own standard which, unashamedly, is designed to satisfy only 98% of people. By taking a no nonsense approach to interior work we can cut down on needless costs and set about about achieving project goals. More for less! While we are more than happy to quote for premium and platinum finishes upon request, our standard sets a benchmark in striking the best quality for price ratio and our estimates and quotes are based on this default position.
